Hum kaise ganana karte hain
This page explains the inputs, calculation choices and limits behind our kundli and panchang tools. You can use it to understand a result and compare it with another source.
Positions
Our birth chart and panchang engines calculate astronomical positions with the Swiss Ephemeris. We use drik ganana and the Lahiri ayanamsa for sidereal positions. Different panchangs may use another ayanamsa or observance rule, so a difference does not by itself show that either source copied or miscalculated a date.
A change in birth time changes the calculated degrees. The lagna sign changes only when that time crosses an ascendant boundary; it does not automatically change after any fixed number of minutes. You can inspect the result in the free kundli tool.
Place, timezone and sunrise
The engine resolves a place to coordinates and a timezone, then calculates local sunrise and sunset. Panchang values and daily windows such as rahu kaal and choghadiya are shown for that place; they can differ from the same day's result in another city.
Choose your location on the panchang rather than reusing a table for another city.
Festival dates, and how we check them
A festival date can depend on whether its tithi is present at sunrise or during a specified observance window. Our engine applies explicit udaya and vyapini rules. Smarta and Vaishnava Ekadashi rules are calculated separately because their dates can differ.
Automated regression fixtures compare a defined set of 2026 New Delhi Ekadashi dates with published reference dates, including cases where the two traditions split. These checks help catch known regressions; they do not prove that every date, city or tradition is error-free.
If the birth time is unknown
When a tool can continue without a birth time, the engine uses noon and marks the result as approximate. Lagna and houses should not be treated as known. The Moon can also cross a sign, nakshatra or pada boundary during a day, and Vimshottari dasha dates depend on its exact position. Confirm a trusted birth time before relying on any time-sensitive result.
For kundli matching, see the specific inputs and limits in our kundli milan tool.
Calculation and interpretation are different
A correct astronomical calculation does not guarantee that an AI interpretation is correct or useful. Regional traditions can also apply different observance rules. We name known assumptions and uncertainty instead of presenting one result as certain.
