How we compute
Most astrology sites publish dates. We compute them, and this page says exactly how, so you can check us against the panchang you already trust.
Positions
Every chart on this site comes from the Swiss Ephemeris, using drik ganana and the Lahiri ayanamsa - the same sidereal reckoning a traditional Indian panchang follows. Nothing is interpolated from a lookup table and nothing is a template: two people born twenty minutes apart in the same city get different lagnas here, because they had different lagnas.
Your city's own sunrise
Tithi, rahu kaal, choghadiya and the muhurats turn with the sunrise where you are. A Delhi rahu kaal is wrong in Chennai by up to an hour. We compute for 132 cities individually rather than publishing one national table, which is also why a printed calendar cannot be right everywhere.
Festival dates, and how we check them
A festival date is a decision, not a lookup: when a tithi spans two civil days, classical vyapini and udaya rules decide which day carries the observance, and the Smarta and Vaishnava traditions can land on different days for the same Ekadashi.
Our engine applies those rules and we check the output against the traditional panchang, one date at a time. The current Ekadashi run agrees on ten of ten dates in both traditions, including the Vanjuli case where the two traditions split. That check runs before every release; if it ever disagrees, the release stops.
Where we can be wrong
If you do not know your birth time, the lagna and the houses are approximate - the Moon, your nakshatra and the dasha still hold, and Pandit Ji says so on the page rather than quietly guessing. Regional traditions genuinely differ on some observances, and where they do we name the tradition instead of pretending there is one answer. And an AI can be wrong about meaning even when the arithmetic is right, which is why he is asked to say "I do not know" and does.
What we will not do
We do not copy a calendar from anywhere. We do not publish a single national panchang and call it yours. We do not put a number on a page we cannot show the working for - see our safety and editorial policy.
